Drive for Education
Our
" Drive for Education” program remains the
mainstay of our fundraising efforts. Thanks to the cooperation
of Highland Park, sales of these alternative official '06-'07
City vehicle stickers allow the Foundation to raise over $35,000.
We are excited to announce the winner of the design contest, a fifth grader at Lincoln School. Her entry, themed "City of Learners" will become the official education sticker for the next two years. Students at Indian Trail and Edgewood received Honorable Mention.
In addition to the satisfaction of helping our students, residents
who purchase the stickers also receive a valuable discount card.
The card offers savings at popular local restaurants and at a
variety of local merchants.
District 112 Fun(d) Run and Family Walk
The District
112 Fun(d) Run and Walk is a community wide 5K run and walk which
funds scholarships for financial needs students in the District.
We are very excited about this collaborative event which joins
the efforts of the 11 PTOs and PTAs, the Presidents' Council,
the District 112 Administrative Team, members of the business
community, and the Foundation, but we are even more excited about
the opportunities it affords our kids. Over 100 students joined
after school clubs, ten took the field trip to Springfield, fortynine
enjoyed Outdoor Education, thirty-three participated in their
graduation activities and seven learned to play an instrument
with their school band or orchestra. Last year over 55 businesses
became sponsors and over 375 people participated as runners or
walkers. We are proud to be involved in this broad-based community
event that provides support to the kids who need it most.
We are pleased to announce the new sponsorship of Harris Bank, who is supporting District 112 students with a $15,000 pledge.
Please join the fun at this year's event on September 30, 2006, 8:00am at Dany Cunniff Park.
