The
112 Education Foundation proudly co-sponsors the JASON Project,
a year-long, award winning science education program. Using
advanced interactive telecommunications and satellite broadcasts
of scientific investigations around the world, JASON aims
to excite and engage students in science and technology
and to motivate and provide professional development opportunities
for their teachers.
Since 1998, the 112 Education Foundation has supported JASON
with more than $30,000 in funding for the Project, including
facilities to receive live satellite broadcasts.

Students not only watch live as undersea scientists measure
population of sea life on the ocean floor, they recreate
the same experiments in their classroom, as part of. this
year’s JASON XIV project “From Shore to Sea”
which explores the terrestrial and marine ecosystems that
extend from California's coast to the Channel Islands National
Marine Sanctuary to learn how such systems affect life on
our planet. In other years, Jason teamed students with astronauts
in flight, and scientists in rainforests and arctic wildernesses.
District 112 was the first Illinois school district involved
in the award-winning JASON Project. Endorsed by the National
Science Teachers Association, JASON also enjoys partnerships
with NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA). Check out their website:
