Mission Statement

Belief Statements
We believe children learn best:
- when they love learning;
- when individual academic, social, emotional and physical needs are recognized and addressed;
- when curriculum and instructional practices inspire creativity, academic growth, cooperation and responsibility;
- in a safe, child-centered and respectful environment;
- when they develop meaningful relationships with quality educators who foster confidence, self-esteem and an excitement for learning;

Strategic Goals and Objectives for the 2005-2006 & the 2006-2007 school years
Goal One
To grow a culture of organizational flexibility and adaptability, we will:
Strategic Objective
- implement a continuous improvement process for services at the district, building and classroom levels, aligning district and school improvement efforts to support and measure this process.
Goal Two
To establish engaging curriculum, instruction and assessment that encompasses research-based practices and guides all District 112 programs, we will:
Strategic Objective A
- design and implement a curriculum adoption model to ensure learning opportunities for students.
Strategic Objective B
- implement a district literacy program for all students beginning at the pre-kindergarten level through eighth grade.
Strategic Objective C
- identify and implement a model for differentiated instruction.
Strategic Objective D
- develop recommendations for dual language and English language learner programs.
Strategic Objective E
- develop a service learning program that is embedded in grade level instructional objectives.
Goal Three
To support District 112's mission and beliefs through the selection, retention, placement, development and supervision of highly talented and diverse staff, we will:

- establish professional growth standards with identified expectations for all staff.
Strategic Objective B
- implement comprehensive staff recruitment, selection and retention plans.
Goal Four
To develop and implement services to address the academic, emotional and social needs of all children throughout the District 112, we will:

- implement the problem-solving model for system-wide decision making.
Strategic Objective B
- continue to implement middle school practices focused on affective education, interdisciplinary teaming and effective transitions to and from the middle school.
Goal Five
To maintain a fiscally responsible, balanced, operating budget that reflects sound business practices, creativity and innovation, we will:

- develop a fiscally responsible balanced budget.
Strategic Objective B
- develop a long-range financial plan.
Strategic Objective C
- enhance communication about district finances to the community.
Goal Six
To provide optimal school facilities that comply with applicable codes, are well kept, safe and orderly, and enhance the District's instructional programs, we will:

- develop a recovery plan for all district information stored or retrieved electronically.
Strategic Objective B
- develop a contingency plan for facilities needs.
