Welcome to Braeside School!
The staff, students, parents and I believe that Braeside is a very special place. We strive to create a school climate in which children, teachers and parents find a sense of community, experience the warmth of friendship, and are inspired to view learning as a life-long process.
The Braeside staff members are dedicated, caring professionals who are committed to children and the educational process. We believe in cooperative teamwork, drawing on each other’s individual strengths and special talents to provide a comprehensive educational experience for the students. We strive to help each child develop into an educated, well-adjusted and productive human being.
We are fortunate to have an active parent community that supports the children in our school. These active parents provide yearbook and newspaper clubs, Great Books groups, after school specials, and a wide variety of student and classroom support. With our parent volunteers we are able to provide a Diversity Awareness Program which supports our building initiative of Character Counts!SM as well as family social events including our ice cream social and our bingo night. This year, with our exciting new gym renovation, sponsored by PTO, we will be offering grade level gym nights for our students, as well.
School/home communication is a critical component to school success. Each family receives a “flip book” with important district information. The Friday Flyer is posted on our website every other week with news about the activities taking place at school. The PTO sends a newsletter twice each month, and our website contains important information about the curriculum and goals of District 112.
We believe in a continuous process of communication between school and home. In addition to the above resources, we utilize classroom newsletters, progress reports, Parent/Teacher conferences, telephone calls, voice mail, email, parent information nights and Braeside activities to enhance the communication process.
The staff and I are excited about working with our 297 students and have many engaging activities planned for them.
