Battle of the Books 2008 - 2009 . . .
Battle of the Books is an optional reading program for fourth and fifth graders. Students read from a list of fifty books and take part in a tournament question-and-answer activity. Signup is during the month of October. The tournament begins in January. For the tournament, students are placed onto teams.
Students in grade 4 must read 10 books to qualify; and students in grade 5 must read 15 books to qualify. Students should make an index card for each book read listing the author, title, main characters, and 2-3 sentences summarizing the story.
