9/10/08 - Sign up meeting for students and Parents/guardians at Braeside School from 4:30-7pm.  Please call the school ahead of time to schedule a 10 minute meeting with Mr. Canel.  The phone number for Braeside is 847-433-0155.

9/11/08 - Sign up meeting for students and Parents/guardians at Red Oak School from 4:30-7pm.  Please call the school ahead of time to schedule a 10 minute meeting with Mr. Canel.  The phone number for Red Oak is 847-831-4570.

9/15/08 - Small group lessons begin at each school this week.  You will get a schedule from Mr. Canel telling you the day of the week and the time to come to lessons. 

OCTOBER

10/13/08 - Band rehearsals will start at lunch/recess this week.  On your lesson day, bring your lunch to the band room.  We will eat together first and then play songs for the rest of the lunch/recess time.

NOVEMBER

11/24/08 -11/25/08 - Parent/Teacher conferences.  Mr. Canel will be at Braeside school during conferences.  If you would like to schedule a conference at a different school, please email (ecanel@nssd112.org) or call ahead of time at 847-433-0155 ext. 2722.

DECEMBER

12/20/08-1/4/09 - WINTER BREAK!  Remember to "use it or lose it."  If you are not traveling, please try your best to play your instrument over vacation so that you don't lose the skills you have worked so hard to learn.

Practice a bunch - the concert is coming soon!

FEBRUARY

2/10/09 - 7:00 pm - YOUR FIRST CONCERT! We will perform at Edgewood Middle School on the stage.  Performers arrive at 6:15pm so that we can have our only rehearsal with all 4 schools together before we play for people.  Concert uniform is "Black on the bottom, white on the top"  We want to look nice, so please no t-shirts, work out clothes or gym shoes. Participation is required. If you cannot be at this concert, please notify me in writing or email ahead of time.

5/25/09 - This is the last week of band.  Please make sure to continue to bring your instrument to school all the way through the end of May - we have 6th grade music to get started on!
