| Edgewood Grade 6 Girls Chorus |
Grade 6 Girls Chorus is open to all sixth graders! No
previous singing experience is necessary. Rehearsals are
scheduled in our music room once a week during lunch. Participants
are provided with an opportunity to sing pop, folk, spiritual,
and multicultural selections, as well as songs from musicals.
Many solo opportunities are also available. Grade 6 Girls
Chorus members sing in three or four concerts throughout
the school year.

Edgewood Show Choir |
This singing group is open to seventh and eighth graders
currently enrolled in chorus, band, or orchestra during
the school day. Participants sing and dance their way onto
the stage with pop and musical theater selections. Membership
in Show Choir is determined through an audition process,
and rehearsals take place in our music room.

Edgewood Jazz Band |
Jazz Band participants learn and rehearse a variety
of jazz music. Members also learn how to compare and contrast
jazz music through an investigation of jazz history. Finally,
jazz musicians learn how to improvise. Our Jazz Band performs
before and after band/orchestra concerts and during lunch
periods. Rehearsals are scheduled one day each week from
2:45 - 3:45 p.m.

| Edgewood Musical |
Our school musical is open to all Edgewood students.
No previous performing experience is necessary. Information
regarding the show is made available later in our school
year. Auditions are usually scheduled in February with
rehearsals running through April. Participants attend rehearsals
three to four times per week. Rehearsals typically last
until 5:00 p.m., although once production week approaches
participants may be asked to stay later. Two evening performances
are scheduled for parent audiences, and students attend
one of two daytime performances.

| Edgewood Stage Crew |
Stage Crew provides students additional opportunities
to participate in our school musical. Stage Crew activities
include: set construction, sound crew, lighting crew, make-up
crew, costume crew, and ushering. More information regarding
Stage Crew roles and responsibilities is shared once musical
auditions are completed.

| Edgewood Best Buddies Program |
How fun would middle school be without your friends?
We laugh and share stories with our friends, and friends
make our middle school days so special. By joining Best
Buddies, you will expand your circle of friends and bring
happiness to other students. Best Buddies allows you to
see past differences and focus on what EVERYONE likes.
. . good times and great friendships! Meetings are scheduled
once or twice each month during all lunch periods.

| Edgewood Student Council |
Our Student Council is organized to provide opportunities
for student leadership and the development of good citizenship.
Activities focus on addressing student needs, participating
in community service, and organizing student events. A
student executive board is elected by our sixth and seventh
graders each spring. In the fall, each Advisory class elects
a student representative and alternate. These students
attend monthly meetings to assist in decision-making, plan
student events, and participate in service-learning activities.

| Edgewood Sewing Club |
Come join the fun and be creative in Edgewood’s
Sewing Club! Students complete various decorative stitching
projects using embroidery, cross-stitch, and quilting stitches.
Using kits or patterns, students create machine-sewing
projects of their choice. Students also have an opportunity
to participate in service learning projects. Our sewing
club meets one afternoon each week from 2:45 - 4:00 p.m.

Edgewood Art Club participants enjoy developing their
skills through the use of a wide variety of art media.

engage in both individual and group art activities.

All guitar players, bass players, drummers, and guitar
fans are invited to join our Edgewood Guitar Club. The

Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students interested
in photography, editing, page design, or writing are encouraged
to join our Yearbook staff. This is an opportunity for
students to contribute to the creation of a yearbook that
all Edgewood students and staff enjoy!

Our school newspaper club meets one afternoon each week
from 2:45 - 3:45 p.m. to write and publish a monthly Edgewood
newspaper. Final products are posted on our Edgewood website
for students and parents to enjoy.

Our Edgewood Literary Journal is a collection of student-created
short stories and poems. Students enjoy reading through
these materials and organizing them into a cohesive booklet.

| Edgewood Book Match |
Sixth and seventh graders interested in reading as well
as participating in friendly competitions with other District
112 middle school students are invited to join Edgewood’s
Book Match teams. Students meet at lunch to discuss and
quiz each other on a variety of different books found in
our IMC. These books feature themes of adventure, mystery,
fantasy, realistic fiction, and nonfiction.

Edgewood Homework Club |
Homework Club meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
from 2:45 - 3:45 p.m. in our Edgewood IMC. Students are
provided with a quiet study environment and computer access.
Our IMC is also open to students each morning from 7:20
- 7:53 a.m. (under the supervision of our IMC staff).

| Edgewood After School Supervision Center |
The Supervision Center is available to students each
day from 2:50 - 3:50 p.m. in our Edgewood Cafeteria. Students
may chat, snack, study, or spend time with friends. Our
Supervision Center is also a perfect spot for student athletes
to relax and socialize before late afternoon practices
or game times.

| Edgewood Running Club |
If you appreciate the natural outdoors and enjoy great
athletic conditioning for all sports, then join the Edgewood
Running Club. Challenge your physical skills while socializing
with friends and improving your health. Members meet after
school in the spring and have an opportunity to run a variety
of distances at the pace they choose. This noncompetitive
club is open to all sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students
who “Run for Fun!”

Students engage in strength training, aerobic, and stretching
activities through yoga, fitness-related games, and the
use of our FITT Center. Intramurals are offered two afternoons
each week from 2:45 - 3:45 p.m. during the winter season.

Sixth, seventh and eighth graders are welcome to join
spring Intramurals. Students participate in volleyball,
basketball, and softball competitions. Sponsors assist
students in acquiring skills needed for play. These intramurals

Spirit Squad is open to seventh and eighth graders interested
in cheering on our Edgewood teams. Students are required
to attend at least three afternoon practices each week
in order to learn cheers and dance routines. Go, Edgewood!

Edgewood Team Sports |
District 112 middle schools participate in interscholastic
competition with Lakeside Conference. Conference play directs
involved schools to enter teams at the 7th and 8th grade
levels. Sixth grade entry is permissible in Cross Country
and when participation numbers are low among other grade
level teams. Students interested in interscholastic competition
may participate in athletic tryouts for our six team sports:
Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Boys Volleyball, Girls
Volleyball, Cross Country, and Soccer. Come join the fun!
