Independent Reading Requirement

Independent Reading will be scored in two ways:

1. All students will give two Book Talks over the course of the quarter. The majority of the reports will be given in class. Every student will follow the product guide and give two reports. Each report is worth 25 points.

Click here for a copy of the Book Talk product guide.

2. To receive credit for more than two books, students will complete a Book Write. Mrs. Benson may choose to question students who completed Book Writes about their books as well to be sure that the book was actually read and understood.  A Lit Leaf must be submitted with each Book Write.

Click here for a copy of the Book Write form.

3. Total number of books read will be scored in the following way: 0 books = 40%; 1 book = 60%; 2 = 80%; 3 = 85; 4 = 90; 5 = 95; 6 = 100

Independent Reading (Book Talks + Book Writes) will be worth 150 points in total.
