Vocabulary
The eighth grade vocabulary program continues using Word Wealth. This year is devoted to analogy analysis, word origins, shades of meaning, and prefix/root/suffix meanings.
 
Materials
• 1 3-ring hard cover binder (2"+) with dividers
• 2 packages of lined 3-hole composition paper
• 1 3-subject spiral notebook
• 2+ pens - red and/or blue/black
• 2+ pencils #2
• 2 Macintosh compatible discs
• 1 2-pocket folder
• 1 box of colored pencils or markers
• 1 package of reinforcements
• 2+ highlighters (various colors)
• 1 glue stick
Thematic Units
• Unit 1: Perceptions, assumptions, interences, and facts define reality.
• Unit 2: Justice relies on truth, responsibility, and wisdom.
• Unit 3: The tragedy of ambition lies in the flaw.
• Unit 4: Differences in individual and group realities cause conflict.
• Unit 5: Creative skepticism, not cynicism, helps to combat error
Assignments
I am available by appointment during lunch and after school for assistance with assignments. All assignments are posted at the front of the classroom on 3-month calendars.
Students are expected to keep an assignment notebook and turn assignments in on time. Grades drop by half a grade per day late.
If a student is ill or has a written parent excuse, work may be made up in a timely manner.
