Matt Taylor's music studies began early on piano and then progressed to trombone. He attended the University of Illinois majoring in music performance for two years until moving to Dekalb to pursue a music education degree. Mr. Taylor holds a Bachelor's in Music Education from Northern Illinois University. At NIU he performed with several noteworthy ensembles including the NIU Wind Ensemble and NIU Jazz Ensemble. Mr. Taylor has traveled and given clinics at several schools across Illinois. He has performed with various Jazz musicians including Steve Turre, Orbert Davis, Red Holloway, and Wynton Marsalis. Matt Taylor currently plays trombone with the North Shore Concert Band under the direction of Mallory Thompson.
In his free time Mr. Taylor enjoys the occasional videogame, television program or good book. He loves to fish and goes to Canada every summer for a week just to catch walleye. He's a huge fan of anything technology related, and enjoys spending time working on his website, twittering, or taking pictures of his family. Mr. Taylor currently lives in a northwest suburb of Chicago with his wife Megan. |
