Cargo 4 Kids

Can you imagine your most prized possessions in a garbage bag?
Indian Trail is participating in the collection of gently-used or new luggage for the 650 foster children of Lake County, including those in Highland Park and Highwood.

Donations of new or gently used backpacks, duffels, luggage, and totes can be dropped off near the office now through November 26.

The donations will be made to UCAN (Uhlich Children’s Advantage Network) for distribution to local Lake County foster care agencies.

Superintendent Search News

The Board of Education is currently engaged in a search process to identify the next Superintendent of Schools. As was shared in earlier communications, Dr. Maureen Hager has announced her retirement effective June 30, 2009.

As part of the superintendent search process, many community members participated in the scheduled focus group sessions or completed the on-line survey that helped build the superintendent candidate profile. Thank you for this input. The resulting profile has been used to attract and screen potential candidates. Toward the end of this process, a confidential screening committee is being invited to assist the Board as it makes its final choice. In addition to community leaders, staff and administrators, three at-large community members are being sought to participate in  the final stage of this search. In the event you are interested in serving on this confidential interview committee, please complete the brief application that can be found on the district’s webpage at www.nssd112.org. These interviews are scheduled for November 17, 18 and 19, 2008 from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. Participants must be available for all three sessions.

We appreciate your interest and anticipate naming our new superintendent by the end of this calendar year. The successful candidate will begin in the district on July 1, 2009.
