About Indian Trail School
| INDIAN TRAIL is
a K-5 elementary school named after a nearby road once used
by Potawatomi Indians traveling back and forth between northern
Illinois and Green Bay, Wisconsin. |

| STUDENTS & STAFF -
Indian Trail has approximately 475 students and over 50 staff
members. Seventeen percent of our students speak a language
other than English at home. Many of these students speak
Spanish as their primary language; however, Russian, Polish,
Romanian, Cantonese, Pilipino, Farsi and Gujarati are also
spoken by a number of our students.This diversity enriches
our school with a wide variety of cultural traditions. |

PROGRAMS & TRADITIONS -
Indian Trail has several programs that enrich and support
students as they develop academic and social skills. Among
these programs are Orchestra and Band, Spanish,Gifted & Talented
Education, Bilingual Education, English as a Second Language,
Learning Resource, Reading Development, Speech and Language
and Social Work Service.
In addition, extra curricular clubs and activities are
provided which include After School Sports, Art Club, Book
Match, Chess Club and the Great Books program. Go to our Clubs

in Character
Counts which will support our building-wide
C.A.R.E. program (Creating an Accepting and Responsible
Environment) The C.A.R.E. program has been in existence
since 1990 and it is designed to teach social skills, provide
behavioral guidelines and establish a focus for character
development across all grade levels.
Through the support of a very active and involved parent
community, Indian Trail students enjoy a wide variety of
experiences in the cultural and visual arts. (PTO) Students
also work with artists in residence and attend several
field trips which introduce them to local places of interest
that expand their educational horizons and their life experiences.
