Reading Our fourth grade class is using the new Harcourt Storytown Reading Program. This program uses classic children's literature to teach important literacy skills, writing, spelling and grammar.  In addition, we enjoy writing in our journals and sharing our independent books with each other.

Typically, we do spelling and vocabulary every week.  Students receive their spelling and vocabulary words on Monday and have the week to study and do word work.  Please help support your child to study their spelling and vocabulary words so that they are ready for their Friday tests.

Math

Our fourth grade class is using Everyday Mathematics by University of Chicago. The fourth grade participates in flexible grouping for math, where students are assessed before each unit and are grouped in order to differentiate instruction. We are currently in Unit 5, which covers multiplication, logic and word problems.  Please help your child study their multiplication and division math facts.

Science

Our fourth grade class is studying Electricity.  Students have learned about conductors and insulator, simple, parallel and series circuits and electricity safety. Currently, students are working on a project to culminate the unit -- Quiz Boards!  Please come to see our final projects on March 20th at 1:30p.m in the small gym.

Social Studies

Our fourth grade class studies the regions of the United States.  We just finished studying the Southeast Region.  Fourth grade learned about Memphis, Tennessee and the Civil Rights Movement, the Everglades National Park, Cape Canaveral and more!  Come check out the letters and pictures we created in our hallway showing all that we learned about the Southeast Region.
