Welcome to Lincoln Elementary School
SPRING PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on March 17, 18, and 19. Be sure to schedule a time to meet with your child’s teacher if you have not already done so. Please be prompt for your appointment in order to make the meeting as productive as possible. Lincoln staff works diligently to prepare for conferences. Attending these important school meetings ensures a strong partnership, which is crucial to the success of our students.
Please note that District 112 has provided staff with this time to meet with parents to review student progress, answer questions, and set goals for the next grading period. During this time, arrangements are made for many specialists and resource teachers to be available as well. Therefore, it is important that parents adhere to the established conference schedule. If you are unable to attend your scheduled conference due to other family commitments, your child’s progress report will be mailed home and you will have an opportunity to contact the classroom teacher for a short phone conference. When families within a classroom request special appointments outside of the scheduled conference dates, planning for daily instruction is compromised, which affects the entire classroom.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP
Reuse a Shoe
The Lincoln Student Leadership Team has helped to make Lincoln a participant in the Nike Reuse A Shoe Program. Athletic shoes will be recycled into indoor tracks, gymnasium floors, outdoor basketball and tennis courts, and soft playground surfaces. The Leadership Team has decorated collection boxes that are located by the front doors and next to the school store. Families are encouraged to support these efforts by donating their used gym shoes. The collection efforts will continue through mid April.

ISAT TESTING
March 1st - 12th
Students in grade 4 will be tested in reading, mathematics and science. Students in grades 3 and 5 will be tested in reading, mathematics and writing. We will be giving our 3rd-5th grade students state-required achievement test from March 1st - March 12th. The test are part of the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) program and are being given to all eligible students. The results from reading, mathematics and science will be reported to you on the School Report Card in the fall. We will review the test results along with other information to help us improve our school program.
You can help your child do his or her best on the test by:
- making sure, if possible, that your child attends school on the days of testing;
- making sure your child gets a good night's sleep the night before testing;
- providing breakfast the morning of testing;
- reminding your child to ask the teacher questions if he or she does not understand the test directions;
- letting your child know that you have confidence in his or her ability to do his or her best;
- advising your child not to worry about the test - just do the best he or she can.
Please call your child's teacher if you want additional information or have further questions about these test.
