Welcome to the Athletic Website

We are very proud to offer volleyball, soccer, cross country, basketball, cheer/pom, wrestling, and track.  We encourage all students to participate in an extracurricular activity whether it's a sport, fine arts, or a club.  The following information should provide you with everything you will need to know to tryout, participate, or watch an event.  We look forward to seeing many fans cheer for our teams!

Try-Out Requirements

We would like to inform you of the try-out process and format for choosing our sports teams. The tryouts can be a stressful time; but it is our intent to create tryouts that are instructional as well as enjoyable. Our goal is to choose the best players for our program based on our collective experiences as coaches here at Northwood Junior High School.  Students must have a current physical within the year on file in the nurse's office prior to trying out. They must also have an Athletic Permission Form and a Health and Safety form signed by a guardian and turned into the coach. Please click here for a copy of all the required forms.

Team Attendance Expectations

Once teams have been chosen, each player in our program is expected to attend every practice and every game during the season. Illness, injury, and other reasons for non-attendance should be communicated with your coach. Penalties for unexcused missed practices and/or games will be determined by the coach and the player.

Transportation To & From Away Games

In the spirit of team unity, students are expected to ride the bus to and from the away games (please click here for a letter from our principals explaining this practice). However, exceptions will be taken into consideration on an individual basis. All exceptions to this requirement must be cleared in writing by a parent at least 24 hours in advance with your child’s coach.  Parents, please note that we need you to complete a transportation agreement in order to allow for situations that call for your child to not ride the bus home from an athletic contest. Please click here for a transportation agreement form.

Communication

Your coaches contact information is provided on this website should you have any questions.  Please understand that coaches will not be available to talk about concerns before, during, or immediately following games.
