Units of Study:
The philosophy of the music department is to provide Ravinia students with experiences that will foster creativity and skills, thus giving them a foundation for lifelong learning and appreciation of the art. Students sing, play instruments, work together and are exposed to the music of many composers and cultures, discovering techniques and styles unique to each, thereby giving students a chance to develop their own opinions.

Class rules, including birthdays, special programs:
In music, students follow the STARS guidelines: S for Safety, T for Teamwork, A for Academic Attitude, R for Respect, and S for Success. Birthdays are celebrated with a special song which is sung to the student as they play an instrument of their choice. |
Class homework policy :
When circumstances deem homework is necessary, it is arranged between the music teacher and student. |
