REUSE-A-SHOE PROGRAM

Red Oak School second graders are collecting worn out athletic shoes for Nike's recycling program. Nike uses old shoes to make Nike Grind, a material that is used to create sport surfaces.

WHAT SHOES?  Any brand of worn out ‘court-type’ shoe (basketball, tennis, cross-training, running or aerobic) without metal eyelets or zippers (we can cut the metal out). Please share information with your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers!

WHEN?  Start saving old shoes now, and bring them to school now and May 1st. . This will be our first collection and then we will be continuing all year long.

WHERE?  Blue recycling bin outside the first grade hallway and upstairs outside Mr. Finedore’s classroom.

PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE:

  • Shoes with metal eyelets, zippers, cleats or spikes (you can cut the metal out and send in)
  • Flip-flops, pool shoes, sandals, dress shoes, boots or slip-ons
  • Wet or muddy shoes
  • Gently worn shoes. They should be donated to charity

Contact Jim Finedore at jfinedore@nssd112.org for collection information. Go to www.nikereuseashoe.com or www.nikegrind.com for recycle information.
