2008 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

A Presidential election occurs every four years in the U.S. This year’s election will be held Tuesday, November 4. Though there are many candidates running for the office of President, your research will focus on one of the candidates from the two major parties, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain.

GOALS:

1. You will be assigned a candidate and become an expert on their ideas concerning one important issue in this year’s campaign.
2. You will create a poster outlining your candidate’s position on the issue you researched.
3. You will share what you learned with others.

TIMELINE:

Sept. 8-22: Complete the organizer on the back of this paper. Use the two links to Scholastic and Time for Kids on the 5-H wesite on Red Oak’s site at www.nssd112.org/redoak/
You may also use other resources such as your parents, newspapers, news shows, other websites, etc.

Sept. 24-Oct. 3: Create a poster similar to the sample I will give you.
YOUR POSTER IS DUE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3!

Oct. 6-12: Practice your presentation at home.

Oct. 13-17: Practice your presentation at school.

Oct. 20-24: Present your poster to other grade levels.
