Students have learned about silhouettes and their possibilities in artwork. After much study of artistic photographs, they created their own illustration of its effect with a brilliant watercolor sky. We then investigated vases and their importance and beauty in both the ancient Greek and our own Native American cultures. Students then drew and designed their own highly creative vases. .

Fifth Grade –
After all the clay dragons were finished, we began the process of creating individual “cool globes”, tied in with our field trip to see the exhibit in Chicago at the end of September. The globes have turned into a long-term project across the science and writing curriculum, and their results will be presented during our school-wide Earth Day celebration in April. Each project will represent the student’s journey through developing his or her ecological message.
