What are arrival and departure procedures for students?

Most students arrive by bus and will be dropped off in the west parking lot or the front circle drive between 8:25 and 8:35 a.m. Students are to play on the playground for the few minutes until the first bell rings at 8:35 a.m., at which time they line up in the designated area for their classroom. They will be met at that door by their classroom teacher and escorted into the classroom. Instruction begins at 8:36 a.m. Parents dropping off students should do so in the special drop off area in the east parking lot.

Please do not send or drop off your child before 8:25 a.m. or allow them to stay after school past 3:13 p.m. unless you are supervising them, they are involved in after-school sports or other school activities, or special arrangements have been made with the teacher.

There is no parking in the circle drive or along Stratford Road.

May my child ride a bike, skateboard or roller blades to school?

Students in all grades may ride their bikes to school at their parents' discretion. Children living west of the school must park their bikes in the racks near the path and walk to school. Bike racks are available under the trees for children living east of the school. All bikes must be locked. Rollerblading and skate boarding are not allowed at school. We strongly urge that all bike riders wear helmets!

Where should my child look if he/she has lost something at school?

Please check the Lost & Found Tree located outside the office. Items of value are usually kept in the school office.

What if my child forgets to bring something important to school?

Students' possessions are their responsibility. They should check before leaving home each day for books, musical instruments, social plans, rainy day arrangements, etc. In general, parents should not need to bring these items to school. 2. Be considerate and stay off the people's lawns; don't litter.
    3. Form a straight line to board the bus, then move quickly to the rear-most seat. Stay seated at all times while you are on the bus.
    4. Do not leave your seat, kneel or stand on your seat or in the aisle while the bus is in motion. Keep aisles clear at all times.
    5. Be alert to a danger signal from the driver. In the event of an emergency, remain in your seat until the driver gives you specific instructions. The driver is in charge of everyone on the bus. Drivers and bus supervisors are to be shown every respect and courtesy by students.
    6. Keep your heads, hands and arms inside the bus at all times. Never throw things out of the windows, and never lower the window past the safety mark.

    11. If you must cross a street, tell the driver you are crossing. Proceed to a point 10 steps in front of the bus. Check the traffic in both directions. Wait for the driver to signal "all clear." The driver will keep the bus safety arm out until you are safely across the street. Cross, checking again for new traffic from both ways at point of crossing. Walk, don't run across the street.
    12. Treat bus equipment as you would valuable furniture in your home.
