Units of Study:

Units of Study vary from grade to grade. First graders learn to introduce themselves and express how they are feeling. They learn numbers (0-20), colors, weather expressions, winter clothing, and animals.

Grades 2-5 begin with a review of the past year's vocabulary. Second graders also learn seasons and months, numbers (up to 100), fruit, clothing, and zoo animals. Third graders study the Spanish alphabet, calendar vocabulary, classroom objects, sports and hobbies, and family. Fourth graders begin the year learning adjectives and how to describe themselves and others. They also study prepositions and time. Fifth graders do a study of the Spanish speaking countries and famous people from them. Another topic of study in fifth grade is the city, including places of interest and modes of transportation. They also study Spanish foods and restaurant vocabulary.
