Classroom Procedures:
School Hours / Coming and Going:
Kindergarten begins at 8:40 and ends at 11:26 a.m. for the morning session. The students line up in back of the building near the playground in the morning and are dismissed in the front of the building near the office at 11:26. The afternoon session begins at 12:31 and ends at 3:17 p.m. The students line up at the front of the building near our office. |
Communication:
The safety of our students is extremely important to us. I must have a written note any time there is a change to the way your student is going home for the day. |
Snacks:
Please send a quick, easy-to-eat, healthy snack with your student. We have a nut-free classroom. Please read labels carefully and avoid snacks that may contain traces of nuts.. |
Help:
Can you volunteer? We need help in the computer lab every week. We also need volunteers to help with center activities on a sporadic basis. If you would like to help but cannot come in, please consider helping me with projects such as tracing shapes or making photocopies. |
Birthdays:
Please call or e-mail me to arrange a time to come in and read a favorite book to the class for your child's birthday. You will be welcome to bring in stickers or pencils or some other form of non-caloric gift for the other students if you wish. Due to allergies and healthy choice policy we will not allow food treats for birthday celebrations. |
Working Together:
Kindergarten is a time for exploring new concepts, working with others, and discovering things that are special about ourselves. I want to work as a team with you to help your child be a successful and happy student at Wayne Thomas. Please contact me with questions, concerns, or suggestions so we can make this the best possible kindergarten experience for your child. |
|
Class Homework Policy:
Please encourage your child to read with you or a sibling every night for ten minutes. Students will be responsible for 26 sight words taken from our reading series. These words will be provided to parents at conference time. Math homework activities related to our classroom math series will occasionally be sent home.
