About Mrs. Roth

Mrs. Roth

  •      Hello!  I am Mrs. Roth, and I am so excited to teach the amazing 5th graders at Red Oak for the 2017-2018 school year.  I grew up in Northbrook, Illinois and attended Indiana University-Bloomington where I majored in general and special education at the elementary school level.  Right out of college, I got a job teaching special education at Northwood Junior High School in our very own, NSSD 112.  I taught there in various special education roles at sixth, seventh, and eighth grade for seven years.  I have taught self-contained science and math, resource classes, and I have co-taught ELA.  I know what skills are expected of students by the time they enter the middle school and plan to prepare them well for this exciting transition.  This will be my third year teaching fifth grade (for the past two I was at Red Oak), and I am so lucky to work in such an amazing place.  My other credentials include a Reading Specialist Masters Degree obtained from Benedictine University and an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Administration and Leadership from National Louis University.

I moved back to my hometown, Northbrook with my husband.  We are a house divided; I love the White Sox and he loves the Cubs, but we still make it work.  This past spring we had our first child, a daughter, named Gillian Jean (GJ) Roth; we are so in love with her!  I am looking forward to a great school year and have spent much of the summer preparing!  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at sroth@nssd112.org.
