• Teaching and Learning

This team proudly leads the work of curriculum, instruction, assessment, Dual Language, district and school improvement, strategic planning, professional development, placement and reporting, Federal Title grants, English Learner services, among other areas. NSSD112’s concept-based curriculum defines what students come to know, understand, and do by the end of a course of study and promotes transfer of knowledge and skills to new and varied contexts. Instruction is the art of engaging children in deep, complex learning. The role of the teacher is to personalize learning based on students’ interests, readiness, and needs. A balanced assessment system is essential for measuring student growth along the learning continuum. Assessments take many forms and occur throughout the learning process in order to shape and guide instruction.
