North Shore School District 112 is committed to providing students with nutritious, high-quality meals that support their learning and well-being.

Quest Food Management Services is the district’s food service provider for the 2026-2027 school year. Breakfast and lunch are available at Edgewood, Indian Trail, Northwood, Oak Terrace, Ravinia, Red Oak, Sherwood and Wayne Thomas through the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs.

Braeside will begin offering breakfast and lunch when students and staff return to the renovated school building in 2027.

Breakfast and Lunch Menus

Breakfast and lunch menus for the 2026-2027 school year are now available. Families can access school-specific menus at www.nssd112.org/menus and view menus by day, week or month, along with ingredients, nutrition information and allergen details.

Adding Money to Student Accounts

You can add money for meals to your student's account via Infinite Campus. Check out the instructions below to help guide you through the process.

Low-Balance Notifications

Families can turn on low-balance notifications in Infinite Campus to receive an alert when a student’s meal account balance falls below a selected amount.

To set this up, log into Infinite Campus, open the user menu in the upper right corner, select Settings, then select Notification Settings. Turn on Lunch Balance Is Low and adjust the balance amount for when you want to be notified.

How to Use Student Meal Accounts

Students will receive a meal identification card with their name and a barcode to use at the register. Families can manage funds and set low-balance alerts through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

Automated low-balance emails will also be sent on the first day of each month.

Families who do not want their student to purchase school meals or à la carte items, or who want to prevent purchases from being made without their knowledge, should contact Georgette Franco. She can help place appropriate restrictions on the student’s meal account so charges are not incurred.

Free and Reduced-Price Meals

Families who meet certain income requirements may qualify for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program. Applications are confidential and can be submitted at any time during the school year.

We encourage families to apply online through Infinite Campus whenever possible for faster processing. Printable application forms are also available below for those who prefer to submit a paper copy.

Step 3: From the menu bar, scroll down and click on "More."

Complete Meals and Individual Item Charges

Lunch
A regular lunch costs $4.25. To receive that price, your child must choose food from at least three of these five groups:

  • Protein
  • Grains
  • Fruit
  • Vegetables
  • Milk

At least one choice must include one-half cup of fruit or vegetables.

If your child chooses fewer than three groups, or does not take enough fruit or vegetables, each item will be charged separately. For example, an entrée costs $3.25 and milk costs 40 cents.

Additional servings, such as a second entrée or extra fruit, are charged separately.

Breakfast
A regular breakfast costs $2.85. Your child may skip one offered item but must take at least one-half cup of fruit.

If your child does not take enough fruit, each item will be charged separately.

The regular prices listed above apply to students who pay the full meal price. Students approved for free or reduced-price meals will pay according to their meal status.

Meal Modification Requests

We are committed to providing safe and appropriate meals for all students. If your child has a disability or medical condition that affects their diet, such as a food allergy, intolerance or other dietary restriction, the forms below allow the district to work with families and health care professionals to make necessary meal modifications.

For requests involving a food substitution, a licensed physician must complete and sign the Physician Statement for Food Substitution.

Nutrition and Allergen Information

Families can select individual food items in the My Quest School portal to view ingredients and nutritional information. The My Quest School portal can be found on our menus page.

The portal also includes filters that allow families to exclude items containing selected allergens, such as wheat or milk. Gluten-free menus are available for students who require them.

Occasional menu substitutions may be necessary because of product availability or required commodity usage. Current documentation for students with dietary restrictions is important so that dietary changes can be communicated to appropriate school staff.

Accommodating Children with Special Dietary Needs

Federal regulations require schools to provide reasonable meal modifications for children whose disabilities restrict their diets. When supporting medical documentation is required, it may be signed by a state-licensed health care professional authorized to write medical prescriptions or a registered dietitian.

When required, a medical statement must include:

  • Information about the child’s disability sufficient to explain how it restricts the child’s diet
  • An explanation of how the child’s meals must be modified
  • The foods that must not be served and recommended alternatives, when applicable

This guidance is based on the policy guidelines outlined in FNS Instruction 783-2, Revision 2, Meal Substitutions for Medical or Other Special Dietary Reasons.

Students or parents and guardians with severe, life-threatening food allergies or special dietary needs related to a disability are encouraged to schedule a menu review with the food service manager and school nurse after submitting the Physician Statement for Food Substitution.

For dietary requests not related to a disability, the District will determine on a case-by-case basis whether an accommodation can be provided within federal meal-pattern requirements.

Concern Form

Families may use the food service concern form to report issues so they can be reviewed and addressed. The form will be monitored throughout the school year to help the district remain responsive to student and family needs.
