Department Directory

Deputy Superintendent

Dr. Monica Schroeder is the supervisor for the directors of safety and security, communications and community relations, and personnel services. She is also the supervisor for the executive director of technology and operations. As the future superintendent, her role and responsibilities focus on developing and coaching the building leaders and those that she supervises, attending to all construction-related matters, leading board committee meetings, and facilitating the strategic plan process.

Executive Director of Personnel Services

Ms. Rachel Filippi is the executive director of personnel services. She joined the district office in 2024 as student services coordinator, following five years as principal of Sherwood Elementary School. She is the point of contact for all inquiries related to personnel services that require problem-solving, investigation, support, and overall attention.

Personnel Manager

Mr. John Sprangers is a long-time and valued member of the NSSD 112 leadership team. He works part-time, remotely, to support and develop the director of personnel services as he transitions into this new role. Mr. Sprangers will also cover any concurrent absences of the director of personnel services and the deputy superintendent.

Executive Assistants

Both executive assistants in the department support recruitment, selection, onboarding, absences, leaves of absence, FMLA, and other general inquiries. Listed below is whom to contact based on which group you belong to in the organization:

Ms. Jessica Dubois supports guest teachers, support and exempt staff, contracted workers, and is the FOIA officer. She organizes compliance training, serves as a liaison for Humanex, and is the main point of contact for fingerprinting-related inquiries.

Guest Teachers/Substituting in D112

Thank you for your interest in being a guest teacher in North Shore District 112. Guest teachers are an essential component of our day-to-day instruction. Guest teachers help us sustain instructional excellence during the absence of our regular staff.

If you are interested in guest teaching, you must have an Illinois Professional Educator License or an Illinois Substitute Teaching License.

Apply for an Illinois Substitute Teaching License through the Illinois State Board of Education.

Apply to be a guest teacher in District 112

Click "start an application" and complete the form indicating your interest in a guest/substitute position. We periodically review candidates' online credentials/applications to make additions to our guest teacher pool. If you are being considered as an addition to our guest teacher pool, you will be contacted for an interview.

Mission

Vision

The vision of the North Shore School District 112 mentor program is to build strong relationships with non-tenured staff and provide support through observation, feedback, and reflection so they are empowered to be effective instructors and collaborative colleagues.

Overview

In supporting the well-being of our new staff both personally and professionally, North Shore School District 112’s Mentor Program involves all first-year staff having the support of a job-alike mentor, as well as a building mentor, and all second-year staff having the continued support of a building mentor.

*Note: We offer a tiered system of support for new staff with experience.

Student Teachers and Related Services Interns

STUDENT TEACHERS & RELATED SERVICES INTERNS

Prospective student teachers and related service interns must work with their college and/or university to obtain a placement in District 112.

Approval Process:

Any Illinois College and University Student Teacher Supervisor can contact Valerie Kilen at vlariviere@nssd112.org or 224.765.3042 regarding student teacher placement for fall and spring placements.

For Fall Student Teachers:

All student teacher requests are due to Valerie Kilen by March 1st.
Our committee reviews the applicants and responds back to university coordinators by April 1st with our decision to accept or decline based on administrator approval and cooperating teacher availability.

For Spring Student Teachers:

All student teacher requests are due to Valerie Kilen by September 15th.
Our committee reviews the applicants and responds back to university coordinators by October 15th with our decision to accept or decline based on administrator approval and cooperating teacher availability.

For all candidates, please include:

A letter of request for placement from the university
All applicable transcripts
A resume

Please do not contact the principals directly unless you are looking for a practicum placement involving observation hours only.

Are You Seeking Verification of Income (VOI) or Verification of Employment (VOE)?

We are dedicated to protecting our employees’ information. For this reason, we use Verifent to confirm verification of employment and/or verification of income (VOE/VOI) requests are legitimate, and a valid permissible purpose exists as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Verifiers seeking employment and/or income information for our employee’s must submit VOE/VOI requests through Verifent.

To Submit a Request:
1. Log in at https://www.verifent.com/log-in. Please note that new Verifent users will need to register and create an account before proceeding.

What is Verifent?

Verifent is an employment and income verification service that proves consumer’s employment and/or income to credentialed verifiers. It allows credentialed verifiers with a valid Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) Permissible Purpose quick access to important information that assists in their decisioning process. Additionally, it enables employers to quickly, securely, and confidently manage the employment and income information process.

How do I register as a verifier?

Please visit www.verifent.com, click on the ‘Let’s Get Started Now’ button in the upper right-hand corner, click on ‘Verifiers,’ scroll to the bottom of the page and click on ‘Register Now.’

Am I a verifier?

All verifiers must apply (www.verifent.com) and be credentialed (approved) before gaining access to Verifent. This is a one-time requirement. Additionally, every verifier must have an approved Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) permissible purpose.

What information do I need to obtain a verification?

In addition to our Organization Code, you will need the consumer’s correct first and last name while working for us, their date-of-birth, last four digits of their Social Security Number, and proof of consumer consent for any verification including income information.

What is the difference between a commercial and government verifier?

A commercial verifier is anyone that is not a government agency; i.e., mortgage company, auto finance, apartment complex, pre-employment screening, credit card, etc… A government verifier is a government agency looking to assist a consumer. i.e., SNAP, TANF, WIC, child support, Medicaid, subsidized housing, etc...

Can I use Verifent for Loans?

Yes! You can now use Verifent to complete Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) requests. This guide will walk you through this process. Please remember to use our organization code: B30493
