Asthma Action Plan

Students with asthma may need a plan to help school staff understand their symptoms, triggers and medication needs and respond appropriately if an asthma episode occurs during the school day.

The School Asthma Action Plan provides important information about a student’s asthma, including common triggers and symptoms, participation in physical education and recess, preventive measures, rescue medication and the steps staff should take if symptoms develop or become more serious. The plan also includes information about whether a student may carry or administer their own rescue medication and other instructions for school staff.

Families of students with asthma should complete the appropriate form and provide it to their school health office.
