Social and Emotional Learning Resources
At North Shore School District 112, we understand the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that prioritizes the social-emotional well-being of our students. Our dedicated Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Resources page is a comprehensive hub of information and tools available to parents and guardians.
Cartwheel Care
Cartwheel is a national mental health provider for students/adolescents. They provide
rapid access to care for students by providing them access to a licensed clinician within
seven days of referral (virtually). Clinicians are available during school hours, after
school, nights, weekends, and breaks. Additionally, Cartwheel offers the ability for
psychiatric evaluations and medicine management.
To learn more about Cartwheel, please reach out to your child's school or to Dr. Holly Colin, assistant superintendent for student services, at hcolin@nssd112.org.
Cook Center for Human Connection
The Cook Center for Human Connection is an organization that provides resources to support mental health. Throughout the year, our district partners with the Cook Center and ParentGuidance.org to offer presentations developed by licensed therapists. These events are virtual, interactive and designed to help parents/guardians support students. Registration, attendance and interactions are kept completely anonymous from other viewers. Recordings of these presentations will be shared with our district's families.
You can learn more about these events, or find recordings of past events, on our website.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
Help is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Visit the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline website or call 988 for immediate help.
ParentGuidance.org
ParentGuidance.org is a resource available to all District 112 parents and guardians for free. It offers education and therapeutic support for you or your child.
ReferralGPS
ReferralGPS is a web-based service focused on assisting students, staff, and community in finding local mental-health and substance use related treatment. The service compliments the districts existing systems of support as a tool for student service teams and families to connect with treatment. Along with a searchable database of treatment options, ReferralGPS provides Care Navigation to assist families in triage, appointment setting, and follow up care.
