About Dr. Schroeder

Dr. Monica Schroeder became superintendent of North Shore School District 112 on July 1, 2026, after 20 years of service to the district.
She first joined District 112 in July 2006 and has served the community as an associate principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and deputy superintendent. Those roles have given her a deep understanding of the district’s schools, staff, families, and communities, as well as the daily work required to support students.
Over the course of her time in District 112, she has helped guide some of the district’s most important work, including labor contract negotiations, construction planning, community engagement, and the successful 2022 referendum. She also helped lead the Strategic Change Agenda process and spearheaded the Dual Language Task Force, which focused on planning for the future of the district’s K-5 dual language program.
Her leadership is grounded in relationships, careful listening, and a clear focus on students. She believes strong schools are built when families trust their schools, staff feel supported in their work, and students feel safe, known, challenged, and valued.
A graduate of DePaul University, Dr. Schroeder holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She also earned a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration, a doctorate, and a Chief School Business Official endorsement from Northern Illinois University.
Beyond District 112, she has been active in professional leadership through the Illinois Association of School Personnel Administrators and the American Association of School Personnel Administrators, including service as IASPA president and national leadership with AASPA.
As the first Latina superintendent in District 112 history, Dr. Schroeder has described the milestone as both an honor and a responsibility. Her leadership reflects a commitment to serving the full District 112 community.
