A little background on Mrs. Young
-
My name is Noëlle Young, 8th grade English teacher at Edgewood Middle School in Highland Park, Illinois. I have been teaching since 1998 and I started in District 112 in 2010. I am certified to teach French, English and English Language Learners and have over the years taught all three subjects. I live in Round Lake Beach with my husband and my two children, Sophia and Johnathan. I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and my parents still live there. I went to Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. I spent a year abroad as a student at the University of Haute Bretagne in Rennes, France. I received my master's degree from DePaul University and earned my endorsement to teach ELL (English as a second language) at Dominican University. Before teaching in District 112, I taught English and French at the High School level. I truly love teaching Middle School students because I find this age entertaining and meaningful. In my sparetime, my children and I participate in community theatre as well as attending as many plays as we can. I also love to scrapbook and cook. I love chocolate and coffee. Something about which I am really passionate is travel. When I studied abroad in France, I had the opportunity to travel all over France and Europe. One of my favorite trips was to Belgium. One day, I would love to travel to Africa. In fact, I originally became a French and English education major because I thought I dreamed of teaching English in a French speaking country in Africa. While that never happened, I truly do love teaching here! You are going to learn a lot this year and I am delighted to be your teacher.
