    Mission

    The mission of North Shore School District 112, a community partnership committed to a world-class education, is to nurture every child to become an inspired learner, a well-rounded individual and contributing member of a global community by striving for excellence within an environment that fosters innovation, respect, engagement, and intellectual inquiry.

     

    Vision

    The vision of the North Shore School District 112 mentor program is to build strong relationships with non-tenured staff and provide support through observation, feedback, and reflection so they are empowered to be effective instructors and collaborative colleagues.

     

    Overview 

    In supporting the wellbeing of our new staff both personally and professionally, North Shore School District 112’s Mentor Program involves all first-year staff having the support of a job-alike mentor, as well as a building mentor, and all second-year staff having the continued support of a building mentor.

    *Note: We offer a tiered system of support for new staff with experience. 

     

    Requirments

    First-Year Staff:

    • Weekly meetings with the 1:1 job alike mentor 
    • Monthly meeting with the building mentor 
    • Two Lesson Studies w/ observation and a reflection post-conference
    • Opportunities to observe of other staff members
    • *Special Education Staff have additional case manager training

    Second-Year Staff:

    • Quarterly meetings with the building mentor 
    • 3 peer observations with a reflection post-conference
    • Opportunities to observe of other staff members
    • *Special Education Staff have additional case manager training
