Among the 10 schools in the district, there are seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and the Green Bay Early Childhood Program. We currently serve 4000 students in grade PK - 8.
North Shore District 112 is nestled along the beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline and is located in Lake County about 25 miles north of Chicago's Loop. The district is comprised of three communities: Highland Park, Highwood, and Fort Sheridan. The district is fortunate to be located in vigorous communities that offer a wealth of beautiful parks, recreation facilities, youth and senior centers, and vibrant downtown commercial districts:
Highland Park - The city has won numerous awards including being named an All-American City and receiving two national volunteerism awards, and eight times has been cited as a Tree City USA. A richness of history and culture come together each year during Highland Park's internationally acclaimed Ravinia Festival, where world-renowned music, dance, and theater artists perform.
Highwood - Highwood is probably best known for its wide array of gourmet restaurants that draw diners from far and wide to the vibrant downtown. Highwood also is known for its recreation offerings with facilities that include a large gym, community center, lighted ball field, and three parks.
Fort Sheridan - Since the closing of Fort Sheridan on May 28, 1993, this residential community has grown due to a total renovation of several existing buildings into condos, townhomes, and single family residences. These updates, coupled with extensive open park areas, has led to a revitalization of the area. An Army Reserve base continues to use about 90 acres of the original Fort Sheridan Post.
