Rafiki Bracelet Fundraiser

The Fifth Grade Student Leadership Club will be selling Rafiki bracelets until Friday, December 21. Rafiki Bracelets are handcrafted by women in Kenya using traditional beading skills passed down from generation to generation. We will be starting to fundraise with WE Are Rafikis to empower the women who made them to earn a fair wage for their work. Every Rafiki bracelet sold also goes towards our school’s chosen WE Villages country and Pillar of Impact, which are Hunger and Education.

Each bracelet is $10.00.

iRead is Coming!

Save the Date!  There’s fun for the whole family at the annual iRead Kick Off event at the Highland Park library on Saturday, January 12 from 9am to 2pm.  Meet local authors, be entertained by a professional storyteller, try your hand at Readers Theater and join D112 teachers as they read their favorite books.  Plus, students who attend the Kick Off event get a 30-minute boost on their reading logs!  More information to follow.

Winter Weather

Please remember to send your child appropriately dressed for the weather. We have several students who are coming to school without coats, and the outside temperature is below 40. Tis the season for hats, coats, and gloves! Students will not be able to play in the snow unless they have snow pants and boots as well.

Junior Giants Club Event

The Junior Giants Club is hosting an exciting athletic event for kids at Highland Park High School on Friday, December 7. This is "Pack the Place Night” at HPHS where both Girls’ and Boys’ Varsity Basketball Teams play at home on the same night. The Girls’ Varsity Team plays at 6:00 pm and the Boys’ Varsity team plays at 7:30 pm in the new gym.  The Wrestling Team and Swimming/Diving Teams also have events at home that night and will be participating this year. You must be a member of the Junior Giants Club to attend. The cost of a Junior Giants Club membership is $20.

Junior Giants Club members will participate in a number of fun activities on Friday, December 7.
