Graduation is June 1st from 4:30pm - 5:30pm in the Highland Park High School Giant Gym

Message from the Principal

I am excited to share our first official communication about this year's 8th grade graduation ceremony! I intend to use this Smore as a one stop shop for the most updated communication. As I add information it will automatically update on this link and I will be sure to resend this communication so you are also aware of the changes. Hard to believe that there are only two months left for our 8th graders and even crazier to think that three years have passed as I have had the pleasure of being here since this group started with us in 2019!

****ACTION ITEM Due 4/8: Correct Spelling and Listing of Name on Diploma and Program

Please note the correct spelling of the name that you would like us to have written on your student's diploma and graduation program.

We need one family member to fill out this form on behalf of every graduating 8th grade student.

This is due Friday April 8th

****Tickets and Seating Information

There will be no limit to the number of guests that can attend, so there will be no tickets for this event. Seating is first come, first served. We used this space for our in person graduations in 2018 and 2019. Similarly, we had no limit on guests and at that time we had more students, so there should be plenty of seats.

The bleachers will be available along with sides of the gymnasium along with folding chairs on the floor of the gymnasium leading up to the stage.

See the form below if you are in need of handicap seating. This form is due by April 15th

***Important Miscellaneous Information

  • Wednesday, June 1st is the last day of school for our 8th graders. It is an early release day. Dismissal will be at 12:55pm and graduation will be that day at 4:30pm. It's essential that students are in attendance on June 1st as we will use that time to hold graduation practice at the high school during the school day that morning. This will be their only time to practice for the ceremony.
  • 8th graders will not attend school on Thursday, June 2nd, which is the last day of school everyone else.
  • Student Speech Information: Any eighth grader is invited to write a speech knowing that, if selected, he or she will deliver the speech at the graduation ceremony. Two students will be selected by our staff. Information regarding speeches and deadlines will be shared in advisory.
  • For students planning to attend HPHS: Please complete the following health forms by 5/2 and turn them into HPHSHEALTHSERVICES@DIST113.ORG
