News You Can Use 9.27.2019
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Today we end our week with an early dismissal and a mailing coming your way. This mailing for students in K-5 includes the fall Measure of Academic Progress parent report. For students in grades 4-5 it also includes the individual student progress report from the Illinois Assessment of Readiness from last spring. You read that right, last spring!
As with any communication we want you to read it. This report has been reviewed by your child’s teacher and is used to help direct our instructional groups, tweaking of classroom activities and more. This is not an assessment that prompts placement in “high” or “low” groups. Rather it helps us monitor the nonlinear progression of learning to ensure that students are stair stepping their way towards the common goal of a life where anything and everything is possible to them.
If you are concerned, worried, alarmed, or otherwise confused by the papers coming your way over a long weekend, reach out! We are your partners in education and welcome your questions.

CONFERENCE SIGN UPS COMING SOON
Nothing to do today, but look out for an email coming out late next week for conference sign ups!
FROM THE LIBRARY
Create a legacy for your child with the purchase of a Celebration Book. Your child will be invited to make a special trip to the library to choose their celebration book from a special selection of new library books. Birthdays, half birthdays, milestones and achievements are just a few ideas for you to acknowledge your child in a special way at Braeside. The book they choose will be a library book that all students may check out. The book will have a specific label on the inside including the child's name, the date and acknowledgment of the celebration. They will have their photo taken with the book and it will be displayed in the school. Braeside students so enjoy finding these special books. Please consider supporting the library with your contribution and honoring your child. You may purchase a Celebration Book through the PTO website. https://www.braesidepto.org/Bse/index.cfm
