FROM THE PRINCIPAL - COMMUNITY TIME

The parent teacher teacher conference season came and went with great success. We, as a staff, love communicating with parents at our twice yearly meetings. As always, do not wait for the next springtime conference if you have any questions about school.

Additionally, as a follow up to the ALiCE training and communication, we have a lot of community opportunities coming up. These community events are the first line of defense from marginalization and extreme feelings towards school. How we come together as an entire community, how we celebrate each other, how we value one another is all so important to making sure that everyone feels like they have a space within the school and town.

The school shooting incidents that continue to take place nationwide are less about guns (my opinion) and more about community. They are more about noticing one another. They are more about knowing neighbors and celebrating each other more so than knocking each other down. So over the next few weeks, before we break for the winter recess, join us for some community time.

Second and Third Grade parents, make space in your calendar for the 2nd and 3rd grade sing on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m..

Come out to the District-wide robotics competition, Robot Revolution, on Saturday December 14 at Northwood @ Elm Place from 8:00 - 2:30 (just drop by sometime).

Bring the entire family to STEAM Night on December 18 from 6:00-7:30.

All of these events are open to everyone and great times to spend together as a community.

As always, if there are questions about anything school related, call me, text me, shoot me an email.

Sincerely,

Joseph Hailpern

This daytime performance will still be open for those that wish to join us, but please understand that this is intended to serve primarily as a final rehearsal and student showcase. We may not have seating for everyone at these daytime shows. Then we will offer a 6:30 p.m. sing for parents and families.

FROM THE LIBRARY

The Highland Park iRead contest is right around the corner and Braeside is striving to bring home the trophy!

We are in need of parent helpers for us to be successful. Please look for the PTO email that offers a choice for you to sign up for a reading session in January. Supervising a reading session is fun, easy and you get to volunteer with your child.

Celebration Books are not just for birthdays. Need a gift idea for the holidays? Purchase a celebration book in honor of your child and it will be donated to the Braeside Library in their name. You may purchase on the PTO website under the Celebration Book tab or print this form and have your child bring it to the library.

INCOMING KINDERGARTEN CLASS

Do you know an incoming kindergartner? Have them contact the school office to let Kathi Pickens know of their existence! Planning is everything and we simply do not know about kindergartners until they tell us who they are. Encourage this please!
